For this study, I aimed to achieve a hyper-realistic look by seamlessly integrating 3D models into live-action footage.
The project followed an industry-standard pipeline, starting with footage captured on a Fujifilm X-T4 mirrorless camera using the F-Log color profile, ensuring maximum flexibility for color grading. A 360-degree photo of the scene served as the primary lighting source, enhancing the realism and blending the 3D elements with the live environment.
The 3D models were meticulously textured to achieve a realistic appearance, with careful attention to detail in materials and surface imperfections. Compositing played a vital role, utilizing adjustment layers for effects like film grain, depth of field, and subtle pixelation to amplify the hyper-realism.
Finally, color grading brought the entire piece together, creating a cohesive mood and atmosphere that enhanced the narrative and visual impact of the CGI integration.
This project showcases the synergy between technical precision and creative artistry to push the boundaries of realism in CGI.
